Processor and Operating System:
The Lumia 710 is powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 processor and it is backed by 512 MB RAM which is the same as its cousin Nokia Lumia 800. This smartphone runs on Windows 7.5 Mango operating system. This operating system is easy and user friendly and allows the user to navigate through the applications with ease. The calendar is very pro active and make sure that you never forget an appointment or a birthday!
This operating system is developing at the speed of lighting to make sure that it lives up to its competitors like Android and it is succeeding at that. With Windows operating system you can also get a Windows Live account that will allow you to use the SkyDrive, Microsoft Cloud which allows you 25 GB of storage and online syncing of your data. The Internet Explorer 9 on the phone provides you with smooth and speedy browsing.

Features and Performance:
Screen: The Nokia Lumia 710 has a 3.7-inch capacitive touch screen. The screen has a resolution of 800 X 480 pixels. The front side of the phone comes covered entirely with the strong scratch resistant Gorilla Glass that will ensure that the scene looks new and bright at all times.
Camera: The smartphone is equipped with a 5 mega pixel camera though it is a let down from the Lumia 800’s 8 mega pixel camera. It doesn’t even have a front facing camera which then eliminates the possibility of making video calls. Despite the disappointment on these fronts, the camera does come equipped with auto focus, a bright LED flash. The camera promises the user good pictures but you have to careful with the lighting.
Storage and Connectivity: The Nokia Lumia 710 has 8 GB internal memory which is half of that we see on Nokia Lumia 800. The internal storage doesn’t sound bad at first but when you realize that there is no slot for a microSD card and no option of increasing the memory then the internal memory capacity is a bit of a letdown.
The smartphone is powered by a 1,300 mAh battery and this promises the user with at least one and a half day of battery backup.
Price and Availability: The Lumia 710 is priced at Rs.17,000 in the market thus making a mid budget gadget. But if you are looking for a better deal there are many online portals which will provide you with that. Sites like tradus.in and adexmart have the phone for RS.14,000.
Wrap-Up: The smartphone at the price is a good gadget to buy. The phone’s extra features like Nokia Music and Nokia Drive and other apps from Windows Phone 7.5, the fast processor and a long lasting battery are just a few points that make this phone a top contender in the mid budget section. The memory and the camera might be a stumbling path for the sales in the market though.
EXPERTS ADVICE
The Good: Well the second edition of Nokia’s Windows Phone is out. The Lumia 710 is a mid range smartphone when compared to its high end brother Lumia 800. The phone is quite a powerful and has a lot of interesting apps in it. It has a user friendly interface, and produces pictures of good quality.
The Bad: The plastic look and feel to the phone makes it look slightly cheap and more of toy phone. The three buttons at the bottom are not very sensitive and need some energy to get it to operate.
The Bottom Line: The phone has good specifications for the price it is available at, but it is missing on the front facing camera which means that you cannot have any video calls.
Design: The handset is available in a range of colours. If you love colors there are plenty to choose from like the sober black and white and funky colours like white, cyan, fuchsia, yellow. The back cover is changeable and it is made of tactile rubberized plastic and the touch screen is strong and scratch-resistant. The People Tile on the home screen is animated and keeps changing the display pictures of your contacts. The pictures get updated directly from the Social Networking sites.
