Today Apple announced a new addition to the iPad family. Starting February 5th you can have a monster 128GBs of storage!
The new iPad will be available in wifi and cellular models. This is a huge upgrade in storage for the iPad giving customers even more freedom to manage their content on one device.
“With more than 120 million iPads sold, it’s clear that customers around the world love their iPads, and everyday they are finding more great reasons to work, learn and play on their iPads rather than their old PCs,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “With twice the storage capacity and an unparalleled selection of over 300,000 native iPad apps, enterprises, educators and artists have even more reasons to use iPad for all their business and personal needs.”
Apple is keeping the businessman in mind with the upgrade in storage. More and more companies are intergrading iPads in their work. Industries use large amounts of data and files are normally rather hefty. One of the programs mentioned in the press release was AutoCAD. Designers often work with big files and they need devices that can handle the amount of space needed. In a sense the iPad is now catching up with what a laptop offers. Having a 128GB iPad now opens the opportunity for a business to have a much more portable device rather than carrying a bulky laptop.
Other advantages versus a laptop would be battery life, cost effective selection of apps and top of the line software. Apple reports there are now 800,000 apps in the App Store and 300,000 of them are designed specifically for the iPad.
The iPad will rock the 9.7” brilliant display, A6X chip, HD Facetime camera, the new iOS 6.1 update, LTE option and fast web performance. The suggested retail price for the wifi model will be $799 and $929 for the wifi/cellular model. You can pick up your new 128GB iPad Tuesday February 5th.
Just a few days ago we heard rumors of a 128GB iPhone and now we see a 128GB iPad actually hitting the shelves. Does this give us more hope of seeing an iPhone with this much storage? I think it does. History has shown us that Apple matches their devices with the same amount of storage options. Keep posted for more updates on the possible release of a 128GB iPhone. Are you going to be picking up the massive 128GB iPad? If so what are you plans with so much storage.
