Sultan of Oman will be the Chief Guest for 64th Indian Republic Day

On 26 January 2013, we are about to celebrate the 64th Republic day of India as we celebrated the first Republic day on 26th January 1950 when India became a republic. As per the Indian customs, every year we invite a country head of any country as our chief guest to celebrate Republic day with us.

Some well trusted sources has informed us that Sultan of Oman, Mr. Qaboos bin Said Al Said will be the chief guest for republic day parade 2013 this year. Qaboos bin Said Al Said is the sultan (The emperor of the country) of Oman since 23 July 1970. Oman is an African Muslim country, the sultan will be present in India on 26th January 2013 as a Chief guest of Indian government.

Sultan Qaboos, who has been partly educated in India, was awarded the Jawaharlal Nehru award for international understanding in 2004, though he has not yet received the honor.

Last year Yingluck Shinawatra (more about Yingluck Shinawatra) aged 44 years was the chief guest for Republic day 2012. She is the youngest prime minister of Thailand.

Like every year India will celebrate its republic day on 26th of January (Saturday) 2013.

A decision to this effect (to invite Qaboos bin Said Al Said  as a chief guest  was taken by the Cabinet committee after informal discussions through diplomatic channels with the Sultan of Oman. (details here).

Let us also inform us that various organizations are protesting the celebration of republic day 2013 because of recently happened Delhi rape case.

What do you think? Would you love to welcome Mr Qaboos bin Said Al Said as a Chief guest of Indian republic day 2013. Share your minds by commenting here.
